C4CRM Relationships Chart tool goes beyond capabilities of Dynamics CRM 2015 built-in Hierarchy Visualizations and eliminates critical limitations in the visualization that many CRM projects face.
C4CRM Relationships Chart tool goes beyond capabilities of Dynamics CRM 2015 built-in Hierarchy Visualizations and eliminates critical limitations in the visualization that many CRM projects face.
Hierarchy Visualizations released in CRM 2015 brought a new way to visualize the relationships between records but only of the same entity type.
However, did you know that with C4CRM Relationship Charts released in 2006, you can see and create any and all logical relationships and connections between any types of entities?
Let’s take a closer look at the differences between Built-In Hierarchy Visualizations functionality and Relationship Charts:
-
Display all relationships between all entities.
Feature
Relationship Charts
CRM 2015 Hierarchy Visualizations
Display hierarchical relationships between records of the same entity type
✔
✔
Display hierarchical relationships between records of different entity type
✔
-
Display non-hierarchical relationships between records of the same entity type
✔
-
Display non-hierarchical relationships between records of different entity type
✔
-
Built-In Hierarchy Visualizations limits you to see only hierarchical relationships between records of the same entity type, while Relationship Charts allows you to see any and all logical relationships between all entities (for example cross team relationships, responsibility relationships, ownership relationships, project relationships, etc.).
-
Display unlimited number of entity attributes on the charts.
Built-In Hierarchy Visualizations displays four attributes per a chart node. Relationship Charts leverages multi-page concept that allows you to see almost an unlimited number of attributes.
-
Display more than 4 levels of hierarchy using Zoom in Zoom out functionality.
When you work with big hierarchies that contain more than 4 levels the Zoom functionality becomes very important. The whole picture can be seen at quick glance. Hierarchical Visualization limits you to 4 levels of hierarchy shown at once.
-
Create relationships on the chart.

CRM 2015 Hierarchy Visualization

-
Built-In Hierarchy Visualizations only displays relationships existing in CRM, Relationship Charts not only displays existing relationships in CRM but allows you to create new or modify existing relationships and connections in CRM on the go.
-
Store relationship data in standard Dynamics CRM connections, custom entities or use Many to Many relationships.

-
Export the chart for offline use.
Feature
Relationship Charts
CRM 2015 Hierarchy Visualizations
Export as a picture to png format
✔
-
Export to pdf format
✔
-
It is great to have a chart in CRM, but if you like to insert it into a PowerPoint presentation or send it by email you will need to export the diagram in a format that will not require the recipient to have Dynamics CRM. Relationship Charts can be exported to PDF or an image (PNG). Hierarchy Visualizations 2015 lacks this functionality.
-
Add new Activities directly from chart.
Feature

CRM 2015 Hierarchy Visualizations
Add new Activities directly from a chart
✔

The key idea is that Relationship Charts allows people to truly “work” with data without “leaving” the chart. You are looking at a contact and you want to schedule a call – you can do it right there with just one mouse click.
Hierarchy Visualizations does not allow you to add new activities directly from a chart.
-
Bring related entities to the chart.

CRM 2015 Hierarchy Visualizations
Bring related entities to the chart
✔

Relationship Charts allows you to click at a chart node (card) and use the context menu to bring related entities to the chart. This functionality gives an easy way to explore data in CRM by sequentially brining related entities to the chart.
Related entities cannot be brought to the chart with the help of Hierarchy Visualizations.
-
Generate charts automatically.
While navigating through hierarchy using Hierarchy Visualizations is straightforward task but you still need to click on each hierarchy node to see the whole structure. Relationship Charts allows you to see the whole structure within a couple of mouse clicks. Moreover special generation templates functionality allows you to automatically generate the charts that will contain entities of different entity types based on their relationships.
-
Embed charts into CRM Forms.
Hierarchy Visualizations functionality is available in a separate window. Many users complain about the need to open too many windows just to see pertinent information. Relationship Charts can be embedded into CRM forms providing users with an easy way to get the data they need immediately.
